For the Good Times 2023 - Mohamed Toukabri

Based on his desire to create an imaginary encounter with the late German choreographer Raimund Hoghe, Mohamed Toukabri invites Luca Giacomo Schulte, a visual artist and former artistic collaborator of Hoghe, to join him on stage. Their encounter gives rise to a poetic and contemplative journey through a personal and universal experience that Toukabri and Schulte have recently shared: grief. The loss of a father for one, the loss of an artistic partner of almost 30 years for the other, their paths cross where their pain meets. How can we keep alive the memory of a loved one who has passed away? What gestures and rituals can grow out of this shared grief, and so forge links between yesterday's strangers?

Inspired by Raimund Hoghe's own themes - the presence of the absent, remembering, love, death and life - For the Good Times is an invitation to celebrate the time we have left together.

For the Good Times was created in the framework of 'Vive le sujet! Tentatives', an initiative of Festival d'Avignon and SACD.
