Dance
Wild Explosion of Radical Softness 2024 - Maria Ferreira Silva

A solo that leans towards the collective

A body that rests its attention on archives

A fabric that drags bodies through space and time.

The arms holding

The touch that listens

The pelvis as a guide.

The uninvited ghosts

The heaviness of matter and meaning

The impossible return to the beginning

Sensing the borders and Moving the edges

Dancing dances of transformation

Exploding through continuous stillness

Falling to gain momentum.

In her first solo work, Maria moves from the desire to challenge fixed notions of self, body, time and space. Working with her body as an inevitable accumulation of past, present and future bodies she investigates ways in which the notion of plasticity can create specificity and expansion in the choreographic and performative aspects of dance-making. On stage with a large piece of textile she experiments with liminal spaces invoking different archives to unfold but above all, she invites the audience into an immersive space of collective fabulation.
