Luisa Fernanda Alfonso and Estefanía Álvarez Ramírez are two Colombian artists, from Bogotá and Medellín respectively. Since 2016 they have been creating works together and their work has been presented in Tanz Tangente in Berlin, the Atelier of PACT Zollverein in Essen, Simultanhalle in Cologne and Mercerie and Melissa Ansel in Brussels. They approach dance and performance with a humorous capriciousness, with an urgency to investigate their latin-americanness and their love for one another. Their intimacy and close friendship are their drive for creation and also their tools for subversion. After going through extremely meticulous kinetographic studies at Folkwang together for 4 years, their creations are a clear clashing of worlds: western composition structures depicting their nostalgia for home and their feeling of absence. ‘Quinceañeras’ is their first evening-length work to premiere late spring 2026.
Luisa Fernanda Alfonso is a Colombian dancer based in Berlin. She graduated from the Limón Professional Studies Program in New York City, the B.A. in Dance at the Folkwang University in Essen and the M.A. SODA at HZT in Berlin. She approaches dance and performance as a carefully orchestrated artificial theatrical apparatus. Luisa enjoys negotiating the shifts of codified narratives through the destabilization of certain dualities such as virtuosity/failure and masculinity/femininity. Her affinity to sound composition, loudspeakers and voice recordings is intrinsically interwoven with her way of thinking and making choreography. Her work ‘Masterpiece’ in collaboration with Peter Rubel has been part of Les Urbaines Festival at Theatre Sevellin 36, TanzNRW Festival at PACT Zollverein, thecarrierbag Festival at Dansehallerne, the performance series PARK at Kunstverein München, Parallèle Festival at KLAP, Domingo Festival at La Casa Encendida, Rakete Festival at Tanzquartier Wien, and Mind Eater Festival in Oslo. As a dancer she has been part of works from Leila Hekmat, caner teker, juan felipe amaya gonzalez, Luísa Saraiva, Ben J. Riepe, Roman Pfeifer, Deva Schubert, Sanna Helena Berger, Emilie Gregersen, Kim Dall’armi, Armin Hokmi and Xenia Koghilaki.
Estefanía Álvarez Ramírez is a Colombian dancer, performer and maker based in Brussels. She studied Architecture in Colombia between 2010 and 2014. She completed her B.A. in modern dance in the Folkwang University of the Arts in Essen in 2019 and obtained her M.A. in Dance at P.A.R.T.S. in Brussels in 2021. Her personal research is driven by the notions of built and unbuilt constructions. A research on how to intertwine her love for architecture, space, materiality and collective and personal fictions. Sentimentality, imagery and text production are fundamental to her research as well. She would define herself as a ‘composer-arranger’. In 2021 she created a solo work ‘WORK. WOOD. GOOD.’ which focused on bringing craftspersonship and her hand-made wooden constructions to the stage in the frame of her M.A in P.A.R.T.S. In 2023 she directed the creation ‘Title under-construction’ for the B.A. 3rd year Drama students at KASK Conservatory in Ghent. She has performed in works by Leila Hekmat, Lena Grossmann and Thorben Gröbel. Currently she is working with Geert Belpaeme, Bosse Provoost and Ezra Veldhuis, Carly Rae Heathcote and Lydia McGlinchey.
