Pablo Gisbert (Ontinyent, Spain, 1982) and Tanya Beyeler (Lugano, Switzerland, 1980) lead El Conde de Torrefiel, an artistic project whose stage works possess a visual and textual aesthetic that combines literature, plastic arts and choreography aiming to transcend the parameters of verbal language. El Conde de Torrefiel configure their works as chapters along a broad path of investigation; projects that approach theatre from an immediate time-frame, formulating hypotheses that can provide an answer to the mysteries put forward by this 21st Century and the ways of representing them on stage.

The company’s professional career began in 2010 with the premier of La historia del rey vencido por el aburrimiento (The Story of the King that was Beaten by Boredom). This was followed by Observen cómo el cansancio derrota el pensamiento (Observe how Exhaustion Defeats Thought) in 2011, Escenas para una conversación después del visionado de una película de Michael Haneke (Scenes for a Conversation After Watching a Film by Michael Haneke) in 2012, La chica de la agencia de viajes nos dijo que había piscina en el apartamento (The Girl from the Travel Agency Said the Apartment had a Swimming Pool) in 2013, La posibilidad que desaparece frente al paisaje (The Possibility of Disappearing In Front of the Landscape) in 2015, GUERRILLA in 2016, LA PLAZA in 2018, KULTUR in 2019 and Los Protagonistas in 2020. They are currently working on their new project ULTRAFICCIÓN.

Their works have been presented in countries such as Portugal, France, Belgium, Greece, the Netherlands, the UK, Germany, Switzerland, Italy or Austria, in festivals and theatres such as Kunstenfestivaldesarts, Alkantara Festival, Steirischer Herbst, Noorderzon Festival, Festival de Otoño, CDN de Montpellier, or Théâtre de Vidy-Lausanne, among others.

El Conde de Torrefiel is part of the artistic team of La Veronal dance company, and signs the textual and dramaturgical composition of their pieces.
