Peri-sphere 2017 - Benjamin Vandewalle

After Birdwatching 4x4 and Inter-view, choreographer Benjamin Vandewalle has created a new installation-performance that challenges our perception. Peri-sphere is Benjamin’s latest investigation in the realm of the visual, taking the form of a one-on-one performative installation that can be placed indoors or in public space.

Participants are invited to take place in a mobile periscope system that elicits a profoundly immersive and disorienting experience. Mirrors work to undo the spectator’s fixed point of view, and disconnect it from his or her physical position, as if the body is located at several different places at the same time.

Peri-sphere is an invitation to rethink the spatiality of seeing, a choreography of the gaze.
