    DUST (2011)
    Arco Renz

In DUST, Arco Renz explores the solitary coexistence of individuals in a world where seduction is a prime tool of control and power. In this new creation, the body and its sensuality are being instrumentalized, our natural need of intimacy becomes subject to manipulative processes in order to trigger desire and control power relationships.

Arco Renz closely collaborated with visual artist Lawrence Malstaf for the scenography, Jan Maertens for lighting and Marc Appart for the original music for the piece. In an intense interplay of dance, music, scenography and lighting, DUST relays to the phenomena of reality in our society:  the soft power of media, the entertainment industry and social networks and their use of seduction and sensuality as tools of control…

DUST is an on-going process of transformation, in which appearances change and movements, sounds, intentions, atmospheres vanish before we can hold on to them; a dance performance about the paradox of seduction – its power, its charm, its illusion, its violence, its mechanisms of control.
